GET TO KNOW ME!
My name is Charlotte and I am a qualified journalist whos passion lies in writing about all things politics and current affairs - looking specifically at how the big global news issues can affect everyone. I graduated with a 1st Class BA in Journalism from the University of Portsmouth (UoP) in 2021, and I graduated with a Merit MA in International Relations in July 2023 from UoP as well.
My main area of interest is investigating gender inequality, intersectional feminism, societal inequality and misogynistic violence. My masters dissertation researched the incel movement and its representation in the UK, US and Canadian media. Since completing this project I have become more motivated to talk about misogynistic violence and how in order for feminism to create positive change in our society, it must be intersectional.
My knowledge and interests also expand to other subjects such as: UK politics, US politics, the politics and inner workings of the European Union, social movements and protests, and political theory. My writing experience lies primarily in local news reporting, and bringing awareness to specific issues that affect daily life.
Having recently moved back to my family home in Ireland, I am looking to make the most of my quiet schedule and would love to speak to anyone who has a story they would love to tell. My favourite aspect of journalism is having conversations with people, I believe everyone has an interesting story to tell. To me, change starts with a conversation and journalism is a means to begin this conversation. In terms of the bigger picture, journalism to me means being able to bring words to life and using them to try and create a difference in our world.
